Thanksgiving
« on: November 25, 2014, 01:25:56 PM »
HI all,
It's been a while since I've been on the board. Hope all are well.
We're expecting a foot of snow over the next day or so up here in Boston. But, no matter, I'm smoking our Turkey. I know my Gator pit will stand up to the cold. Pictures to follow.

Have a great Thanksgiving.
Steve

32 degrees, no problem for the Gator Pit. It took a bit longer to get it to temp, but once it was there, no problem.

Here arethe birds. Apple wood smoked on left. The roasted one on right was smeared with herb butter and basted with duck fat. This smoked one was the best yet. I put it in an aluminum pan on top of celery, carrot and onions. For a rub I just used a salt and pepper mix.

The pit in the snow pic looks like a Halmark card.  Good job T-up
