Title: pork butt

think i'm going to smoke a pork butt for the first time this week-end.  internal temp when done should be what?  also, trying to budget for some shut eye.......don't pork butts typically take 15 - 20 hrs??

For pulled pork I shoot for 205 internal temp. I haven't had any take more than 12 hours  yet. I cook at about 225 degrees for most of the cook and then bump up to about 240-250 for the last few hours.

I am sort of a new guy here, but I did think it was kind of strange that serialgriller was asking about his first butt. I didn't even notice his posting date, just piggy backing on the post. :D

just got in from being out of town and i'm catching up on the forums and i started reading this thread and i'm thinking to myself "when the heck did i post this :?: " :shock:  i didn't notice the date either until bandit pointed it out...... :roll:

Didn't even look at the date.  Gotta do that from now on.
